10 POPULAR BOOKS I FIND OVERHYPED

Today I am talking about the top 10 popular books that I do not like. I don’t necessarily hate all of these books, some of them were good, but just not nearly as good as everyone else promised it would be. Please, don’t be offended if I don’t like on of your favorites. That is just me, and the books are popular so if you like them you are with the majority! These books will be listed after popularity, let’s just get started!

We’ll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han – I binge read this whole trilogy this summer and I was really let down when I read this conclusion. I thought the plot was so stupid and Belly also ended up with the wrong guy, so I was mad about that too. 2/5 stars

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews – This book was so strange and I really didn’t like it. The protagonist was supposed to be really funny but I found him so annoying, and the plot was almost non-existing. The only thing I kind of liked sometimes was Rachel. She was nice, I guess. 2/5 stars

Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor – This book started out amazingly, but the last half just really ruined it for me. I found the plot twist when the story went back in time cliché and I didn’t feel the romance. I am still not sure whether or not I am going to pick up the second book. 3/5 stars

Paper Towns by John Green – I was really obsessed with John Green a couple of years back, but this book just didn’t do it for me. The beginning was fun, but the middle was long and extremely boring. Besides that I just didn’t really like Margo. 2/5 stars

If I Stay by Gayle Forman – I watched and loved the movie, so I decided to pick up the book. The story that I had loved on-screen just didn’t work nearly as good on paper. I didn’t like the way the story was told and written, so I was really disappointed. 3/5 stars

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell – I found Cath way too extreme for me to relate to. Even though she might developed very realistically it happened very slowly which also made the book move very slowly. Levi was a cutiepie though. I have a full review here. 3/5 stars

The Selection by Kierra Cass – With most books I understand why other people might enjoy it, but with this I really don’t. America is frustrating and annoying. I didn’t find Maxon as charming as everyone else seems to and what the hell was Aspen doing there? I just find the whole concept ridicoulous, I’m sorry. 1.5/5 stars

City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare – Many people say that the first two books in TMI aren’t very good, but I read the series at a very young age, so I honestly can’t remember. One thing, I do know for sure though, is that after TMI was beautifully concluded with City of Glass this book came and just dissappointed me big time. I really disliked it and it made me wait 2-3 years before I read the last two books (which were amazing). 2/5 stars

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas – Everyone talks about how action-packed this book is, but I felt bored in big parts of it. Celeana, as she says herself, is amazing so it seemed obvious from the start, that she of course would win the contest. I did like the romance aspect of the story. I have continued on with the series, and I am enjoying it more now (still now worth the hype, but it’s good). I have a full review here, if interested. 3/5 stars

Divergent by Veronica Roth – This is one of the most popular books out there and I just really found it boring and cliché. It seemed like Veronica Roth had read The Hunger Games and decided to write a similar book that, in my opinion, didn’t turn out well . I didn’t like Four or Tris very much, and since I care extremely much about characters that really ruined it. I forced myself to finish it, but didn’t find it worth it. 2/5 stars
