I am a big audiobook listener, and I would highly encourage you all to start listen if you aren’t already! Today I am here to tell you the 5 reasons, why I love to listen to them.

  • Productive things while listening

If you need to prepare your food, clean your house or something else, you can always listen to an audiobook while doing it! It is also good entertainment while driving your car or something else. If I am at a crowded place I often get too distracted to actually read, and in those cases I find it much easier to listen to an audiobook.

  • Remember more

Because a person is saying it all, you will remember more details from the story, than when you are reading it.

  • When in a slump

Audiobooks are really helpful for me when I am in a reading slump. Somehow taking out and listening to the book just seems so much easier than actually reading. After a while you will get to an exciting point in the book, and you might feel like reading again.

  • Great to fall to sleep too

I’ve had a lot of trouble sleeping lately and listening to an audiobook really helps me. It is more relaxing to listen to than music and you can put the sleep timer on so you it won’t run for several hours while you’re asleep.

  • Always available

It is always available on your phone at all times, so it is very easy to access. If you don’t know where to start I have some audiobook app recommendations for you here:

Audible.com – 14.95per month. 1 credit per month, have to buy each audiobook after that.

Audiobooks.com – 14.95$ per month. I’ve never tried it, but the app is easy to use.

Overdrive.com free, linked to your library. Sometimes some waiting time before you get the book.

Audiobooks – Completely free, no log-in. Has mostly older books/classics. Isn’t professionally recorded,  so not the same quality – but it is legal!

I hope I inspired some of you to start listening to audiobooks more! I for sure enjoy it a lot. 🙂

  1. I’m not a huge fan of audiobooks, I tend to find myself drifting and forgetting what was said. Oops. But I wouldn’t mind attempting another audiobook in the future. Great post! 🙂

  2. What a great post! I started a European audiobook subscription last month and you’re right about everything you said here! I’ve already been using them to fall asleep to for years, but now I can also listen to them during the day and speed up my reading and multitasking 🙂

      1. I just took a peek at where you are from and YES! https://www.storytel.dk/ It’s 10 euro’s a month and UNLIMITED, unlike Audible’s stupid one book a month right? It has tonnes of English audiobooks on it. I have the Dutch version but turned off the Dutch book search function, so I’m only getting English ones :3 I can really recommend it if you don’t think it’s too expensive 🙂

      2. That sounds so great! Yeah I hate Audible’s thing with one book a month, Ill definitly check out Storytel! I have seen it around but I didnt know they had English audiobooks as well -thanks for the recommendation 🙂
