If you ask my dad I’m the biggest TV junkie on the planet (besides my sister). That might be true — or, you know, my dad might just not be watching enough TV to be able to judge that properly. No matter what, though, I do love a lot of TV shows, and today it is time to share my all time favoritesss. These are all so near to my heart, and I love them sosoo much, so I’m really excited to share them with you.
I’ve tried to rank the shows (from least fave to most fave), but they’re all so different and I love them so it really was a real struggle. So yeah, don’t take that too seriously. Anyway let’s get started, here’s the list:
I love sitcoms. A lot. Especially the ones that follow a group of friends and just are a lot of fun (you know what might be further up on my list now, right), and New Girl really are one of the best. I mean all the great characters are greatT (Winston? Schmidt??? Anyone?), you get so attached to all of them, and it’s also so funny. It’s basically all you could ever wish for in a sitcom.
Jane the Virgin
The 4th season is airing right now, and I just love it so much. We follow Jane, who’s a virgin (duh) and saving herself for marriage. In the pilot she, however, becomes pregnant after being accidentally artificially inseminated, and the dramaa start. The show often use cliché/overused/common tropes from Latin telenovelas, but balances it with also having more depth with more ethical discussions and deeper meaning (not in any boring way too serious way, I promise). I don’t know how to explain how purely genius this show is, but let’s try; it’s women empowering, follows the Latinos in the US who you normally never see, and the characters have the best values. Like every time Jane is in a dilemma, and she comes for advice to fx her grandma I’m just sitting there nodding like yes YES!! They just teach such important lessons through that show – most importantly that all types of different women can be tough and independent.
I hope this gave you an insight, I’m not even sure, because I feel like it’s hard to explain, but trust me it’s soso great.
Gilmore Girls is about the mom and daughter, Lorelai and Rory, who lives in this little town, and then you just follow them around experiencing and struggling with life. Rory and Lorelai has the best daughter-mother relationship, and you come to care so much for them. It’s a little slow going, but also extremely funny and the coziest nicest show out there.
I mentioned this in my 2016 favorite TV shows a well, and I still stand by it. The drama, mystery and great, funny characters in this show all works perfectly together and it’s therefore a big big favorite. I have a full post on Why You Should Watch Sherlock, so check that out if you want more details.:)
Skam is a realistic teenage-drama series with focus on great friendships – aand of course romances ;). It feels so real and close to what being young in 2017 actually feels like, and it also shares super important messages about everything from body image to the struggles with coming out as gay to being muslim. Soso good, watch it watch it watch it <33
Season 2 just came out and HOLY MOLY. You might have noticed the whole internet is exploding and very understandably!! I believe everyone by now has tried to convince everyone to watch it, but if you still haven’t, go do it! It’s worth the hype, and, no, don’t worry it is not too creepy. That’s all I’m gonna say.
How I Met Your Mother and Friends
These last two might not be the biggest surprise. As I said I love sit-coms, and what more mainstream than to have these two in the top? I really don’t know which I prefer, every time I watch one I’m convinced it’s the best until I begin watching the other. They are at the top of my list because the characters are the best and I love them all with all my heart and both shows are just hilariously funny and they both keep being amazing through so many season and did I say I love it?
Those were all my favorite shows, I’m gonna go back to my rewatch of How I Met Your Mother now;) let me know if we share any, and if you have any recommendations to other shows!
